So maybe you don't have a pink lapel pin, and maybe you didn't get out for this year's Breast Cancer Awareness Walk.  But it's still October.  And there are still events and programs going on to heighten awareness for breast cancer.

NJPAC has partnered with Pix11 to bring free breast exams and information sessions to the community. St. Michael’s Medical Center will provide free breast exams. PIX11’s Ann Mercogliano will report live from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, NJ. Steve Weatherford of the NY Giants and spokesperson for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation will also be joining us on Wednesday, October 29 from 4pm until 8pm. Pix11 will report from Newark at NJPAC during the 5-6pm hour.

St. Michael’s Medical Center “In the Pink” program will perform free clinical breast exams to uninsured women from 4-8pm (Screenings are first come first serve). Women who come to event but can’t be screened will still be entered into the St. Michael’s system and be given an appointment at another time. Women needing a follow-up mammogram will be given a voucher for a free mammogram.

Dr. Rachel Wellner, certified breast surgeon from Hackensack University Medical Center will also be demonstrating how to perform self-breast exams, giving an informational talk and answering questions.
