Today, La Casa de Don Pedro hosts “Burgers and Brew Week,” a fun, informative, digital and interactive celebration, highlighting northern New Jersey restaurants and breweries. A portion of the funds raised by sponsors will directly support La Casa’s COVID-19 food relief efforts, which provide thousands of pounds of fresh produce, meals and supermarket gift cards to more than 500 food-insecure families in Newark, N.J.

The free, week-long virtual event will be streamed on Facebook, but be sure to RSVP here for exclusive updates and coverage.

Burgers and Brew Weekcommences on Monday, September 21st at 1pm with a special cooking show featuring Celebrity Chef, and Northern NJ local, Jesse Jones. Chef Jesse is an award-winning chef whose passion for cooking was inspired by his experience as a child growing up in the south with a family who always demanded the best in home cooking. He is known for taking southern comfort fare to a new level with added French culinary expertise. Chef Jesse’s famous lamb recipe was recently featured in Toques in Black: 101 Black Chefs in America, published in 2019 by The Chefs Connection.

On Tuesday at 1pm, Montclair Brewery will give you a “taste” of what they’ve got brewing in the back. One of New Jersey’s three Black-owned breweries, husband and wife co-owners Leo and Denise Sawadogo established the business in 2014. After 3 years of planning, financing, and construction Montclair Brewery opened our doors in October 2018.

On Wednesday, the tour moves to the kitchen at The Fox & Falcon in South Orange, NJ where viewers will learn from their head chef how she perfects their signature and falafel burgers. Executive Chef Ruby Curtis-Felix holds steadfast in The Fox & Falcon’s plight to keeping it simple, utilizing an array of culinary traditions from near and afar to transform each dish, while honoring the nostalgia and the comforting ‘warm embrace’ the classic provides.

Throughout the week, Burgers and Brew will also showcase a live series of fun and engaging cooking tutorials from the likes of Tehsuan Glover, performing arts and event producer Kitab RollinsRyan Monroe, and Sandra Fernandez of La Casa de Don Pedro’s Family Success Center.
