Newark Gay PrideUrban+Out and Gallery Aferro have joined together to bring a spectacular evening of cocktails and conversation with icon Tracey Africa Norman and artist Gabriel Garcia Roman this Wednesday, May 11, 2016.

The City of Newark is celebrating its 350th year. All around the City you will see celebrations, restorations and honors being given. Newark Gay Pride is honoring Ms. Tracey Norman as Newark’s LGBT history.  Born and raised in Newark, Tracey Africa Norman is a model, trailblazer, and legend. The first Black transgender person on the cover of Vogue and Ebony, the face of Clairol, and a ballroom icon, Tracey’s remarkable journey was profiled last December in New York Magazine.

Casting queer people of color in the roles of Catholic saints, artist GABRIEL GARCIA ROMAN‘s first solo exhibit “To My Father” elevates and celebrates images rarely seen in art.
