This past Saturday, Emily Manz led another explorative and in-depth walking tour downtown for a group of 20+ curious people.  I was pleased to join the Have You Met Newark? group, meet some new people, talk about Newark’s history and learn some new things.  I first joined a Have You Met Newark tour in September 2014, and Emily has been leading the tours since 2012!

Saturday’s group consisted of people who live in Newark, as well as others who live in Jersey City, New Brunswick, and elsewhere.  Everyone met at Penn Station and the group crawled the downtown are including stops at 744 Broad Street, Military Park, Alira, Washington Park, Newark Public Library, Artisan Collective, Art Kitchen, Dan’s Hats, Teacher’s Village, and Hobby’s Deli.  The highlight for everyone was the tour of First Presbyterian Church which gave a look back to the very birth of Newark history.

Here are some pictures of the tour.  Be sure to LIKE the Have You Met Newark? Facebook page to stay connected, and go on a tour!
