Throughout the world, carousels help bring vibrancy and fun to parks and public spaces. Whether in historic Boston Common, a business district in France, or outside of the Smithsonian museum in Washington, carousels never fail in their ability to attract and delight children of all ages.

Military Park will soon be added to the list of world-class parks that feature a carousel!

Thanks to a generous gift from an anonymous donor, and after receiving permission from the City of Newark and State of New Jersey, Military Park Partnership is in the process of having a carousel produced. But, before they go any further, THEY NEED YOUR HELP.  The intention is to design the Military Park carousel to reflect the history of Newark and the contributions of our military men and women, for whom the park is named.   Beyond that basic idea, there are still many details to work out.

Check out these carousels from all around the world!

Military Park Partnership invites you to share your ideas for how the carousel can reflect Newark’s history and honor our military.
Come explore the customizable components of the carousel and discuss your ideas in person during one of four carousel design drop-in work sessions.   MPP team members will be stationed in the Military Park Reading Room to hear your ideas  at the following dates and times:

o    Monday, November 17 from 12 PM – 2 PM
o    Tuesday, November 18 from  5 PM – 7 PM
o    Monday, December 1 from 12 PM – 2 PM
o    Tuesday, December 2 from 5 PM – 7 PM

If the weather is too cold or rainy to meet outside, we’ll post an alternate, indoor location on our website and Facebook page, and there will be a sign in the Military Park Reading Room.

If you can’t make it in person please contact Military Park with your thoughts and ideas by email at ContactUs@MilitaryPark.com, on Facebook, on Twitter, or on Instagram. Please submit your ideas by December 8, 2014.
