As the spring season settles in and the weather gets back to something we can all enjoy, Military Park is preparing new and returning programming for the 2017 season (and yes, Burg is reopening).  Here’s a look at some of what’s going on in the park this spring/summer.

Prevent Child Abuse-NJ will host the annual Pinwheels for Prevention campaign to observe Child Abuse Prevention Month by building a Big Pinwheel Garden in Military Park on Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11 am at the Children’s Carousel in the park.

Community and business leaders, government officials, nonprofit executives, students, advocates, service organizations and friends will wave their pinwheels in the spring breeze and then plant them near the Children’s Carousel, forming NJ’s Big Pinwheel Garden. The pinwheel is a whimsical symbol of the safe, happy, and healthy childhood we wish for all children. To find out more information about the event, please email Pamela Stalcup or call at 732-246-8060 ext. 123.

The Military Park Carousel will be reopening in mid-April.  The Carousel costs $2 per ride. Stay tuned for an exact opening date.

This year, Military Park will also begin an Artists in Residence program. Artists in the program will meet in Military Park every Thursday from 12:30pm – 2:00pm to create all kinds of art from paintings and t-shirts to digital media art. Artists interested in becoming an Artist in Residence should contact Katie Shepard.

Burg, Military Park’s indoor/outdoor burger restaurant, is slated to reopen in mid-April with the crowd favorites like the classic burger, fried pickles, and, of course, a drink! Be sure to keep an eye out on Burg’s Facebook page for an exact opening date.

Kickball is back!! The Military Park Adult Kickball League returns this June! Registration will open on Wednesday April 5th.

Teams need a minimum of 12 players to sign up. Games will take place every Monday at 6pm and 7pm in either Military Park or Riverfront Park.  If you’re interested in signing up for the Kickball League email list for weekly updates, contact Katie Shepard.
