Yesterday, the City of Newark in collaboration with FEMWORKS and BCT Partners, hosted the Newark Small Business Summit at NJPAC, sponsored by Prudential.  Hundreds of small business owners and representative attended the full day event that included talks, panel discussions, and workshops.  Speakers included Mayor Ras J. Baraka, John R. Strangfeld, Chairman and CEO of Prudential, Otis Rolley of the Newark Community Economic Development Corporation, and Dr. Randal Pinkett of BCT Partners and season 4 winner of The Apprentice.

Mayor Baraka shared the City of Newark’s small business agenda.  “Every community in the city is a neighborhood.  This isn’t ‘the downtown district’. This is a neighborhood,” he said. He also made the point that “if you own [or represent] an anchor institution in this city, you should be asking yourself, ‘Where do I spend my personal and corporate money?'” The Newark Times was there to take in the event and share with you.  Have a look at the pictures from the day.
