The New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) is excited to announce the 13th annual TD James Moody Jazz Festival, running from November 7 to November 24 across Newark. This year’s festival will offer a dynamic lineup, blending jazz, funk, and classical performances by iconic artists and renowned ensembles.

Legendary performers include George Clinton, Vernon Reid, and Nona Hendryx, alongside jazz greats like John Pizzarelli and Catherine Russell. Audiences can also enjoy classical and jazz fusion by ensembles such as the New Jersey Symphony, Kronos Quartet, and Sandbox Percussion. TD Bank Market President Martin Melilli emphasized TD’s commitment to the festival and community. “TD Bank has supported the festival since it began 13 years ago, sponsoring free community performances, educational events, and mainstage concerts with jazz superstars. At TD, we believe music and the arts inspire positive change and connect us across diverse communities,” said Melilli.

One of the festival’s highlights will be NJPAC’s Jazz Advisor Christian McBride performing with his Big Band. Joining him will be legendary vocalists Philip Bailey of Earth, Wind & Fire, Lisa Fischer, and NEA Jazz Master Dianne Reeves. The festival concludes on November 24 with the anticipated Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, spotlighting emerging vocal talent.

“This year’s festival is particularly special as we celebrate NJPAC’s longtime friends,” said NJPAC President and CEO John Schreiber. “Christian McBride will preview his next album with an all-star concert, Tyshawn Sorey returns as a world-renowned artist, and John Pizzarelli will perform classics by Sinatra and Billie Holiday. We couldn’t be prouder of the festival’s growth.”

Christian McBride, NJPAC’s Jazz Advisor and Grammy-winning bassist, shared his enthusiasm. “After 14 years as NJPAC’s Jazz Advisor, I’m amazed by how the festival keeps growing. This year’s lineup is incredible—playing alongside legends like George Clinton and Dianne Reeves with my Big Band is a dream come true.”
