On Sunday, May 1, 2016, the North Jersey Community Research Initiative (NJCRI) along with 4 other HIV/AIDS organizations throughout the state of NJ will be hosting the NJ AIDS Walk 2016. NJCRI is the proud host in Newark, the 5k walk will take place in beautiful Branch Brook Park. Those that wish to participate can register at www.njaidswalk.org.
“We’re grateful to bring this walk to Newark and have the support of our community leaders and residents” says NJCRI Chief Executive Officer, Brian McGovern. “Essex County accounts for 70% of HIV infection in New Jersey, therefore it is our duty to fight this disease united as one – we are all affected by HIV/AIDS, whether you realize it or not”. Come put your steps to great use and join us at the NJ AIDS Walk on May 1st. Registration opens at 11am, along the Lions’ monument located by the Park avenue entrance. The walk will kick-off at 1pm!
This year Restaurateur Chef Vonda McPherson has teamed up with NJCRI to be the AIDS walk Ambassador! Over 200 participants have registered and many community service organizations from the area have created teams to support the efforts of NJCRI. Donations can also be made on the NJCRI website www.njcri.org.
