National Park Trust presented Dan Biederman and Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, with the American Park Experience Award last Friday, in recognition of their leadership in the rebirth and revitalization of Military Park and other notable urban parks.
The ceremony was followed by children’s activity stations including yoga, line dancing, and learning/activity stations hosted by Military Park Partnership, National Park Service, Newark Yoga Movement, Greater Newark Conservancy, Essex County Environmental Center, City of Newark Department of Recreation. U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and New Jersey Historical Society. Approximately 200 Newark charter school children participated in National Day of Play, highlighting importance of city parks in the lives of urban youth.
The National Park Trust is dedicated to preserving parks today and creating park stewards for tomorrow. We are the nation’s only organization dedicated to the completion, and the full appreciation, of the American system of local, state and national parks through the identification of key land acquisition and preservation needs. We are not content with merely building out our nation’s system of parks; our vision is based on the belief that there is a necessity to engage young people with our treasured natural areas.
Since 1983, NPT has worked on more than 100 conservation projects benefiting 49 national park units and other public lands in 33 states and Washington, D.C. NPT is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible.
