Habitat for Humanity Newark & Greater Elizabeth honored top corporate sponsors and community partners of 2016 at its annual “Golden Hammer Awards” on November 17th.
“A non-profit organization can only be successful if it has a strong backbone of support,” said Jeffrey J. Farrell, Chief Executive Officer of Habitat for Humanity Newark & Greater Elizabeth. “In the case of Habitat Newark & Greater Elizabeth, we have been tremendously blessed with caring individuals and teams from major corporations in our area. They have given generously in terms of money, time and resources and it is our privilege to honor them. We are also thankful to our dedicated community partners, whose support make it possible for Habitat Newark to fulfill its mission.”
Recipients of the 2016 Golden Hammer awards include major Fortune 500 corporations who were involved in this year’s Corporate Challenge, which brought in hundreds of corporate employees to help build Habitat Newark & Greater Elizabeth homes.
The 2016 Corporate Challenge welcomed 20 corporate partners that provided more than 80 build teams from companies throughout New Jersey and New York. Building alongside Habitat staff, volunteers and Family Partners, this year’s Corporate Challenge was the most successful yet.
Specifically, the Golden Hammer recipients volunteered on the Harmony Point condo development on Hawthorne Avenue in Newark.
