Friday, February 27th, marks a new beginning. A rebirth, the likes of which this country hasn’t seen since the end of the Great Depression. Ok, that’s reaching. But don’t blame me, I’ve been watching Frank Underwood quotes on YouTube for the past few weeks. And on that note, February 27th brings us the premiere of the third season of the Netflix Original series, “House of Cards.”
All kidding aside, House of Cards has very quickly become a force to be reckoned with. Very few TV series (network or cable) in the past three years have garnered the reverence and awe from audiences the way House of Cards has. And the Frank Underwood character easily ranks among the best performances of Keven Spacey’s career, which is saying something.
We were first introduced to Frank Underwood as a “lowly House Majority Whip.” But having laid the groundwork for the past twenty years, and equipped with a methodical plan of attack, laser beam focus, ferocious ambition, and a killer instinct (quite literally in some cases) – not to mention a beautiful wife in Claire Underwood who gives new meaning to “partner in crime” – Frank has ascended to the office of President of the United States in just two seasons. God help us all.
