A Live episode of I’m So Newark TV will air on Wednesday, January 8, 2020, at 8:00 pm. Sponsored in part by a grant from Express Newark’s Third Space Awards, the show will continue to highlight positive stories and images occurring every day in the City of Newark and surrounding areas. Among other exciting segments, this week’s episode includes the actor Michael B Jordan’s appearance at the screening and discussion for the film, Just Mercy at Cityplex 12 Theatres.
I’m So Newark is a local nonprofit that was formed to offset negative press and news that is usually the primary focus when reporting on urban cities. For 25-30 minutes each week, unsung heroes, individuals, businesses, and events are documented and broadcast through various mediums. As there is no lack of remarkable and inspiring narratives, the goal is to produce content that will educate and entertain. Promoting achievement and success in one’s own backyard encourages pride and reinforces that ambitions can be realized.
The organization also provides hands-on training in the art of digital media and content creation for Newark residents who are unemployed or are returning to society from penal institutions. I’m So Newark operates under the premise that once a man or woman is properly trained and given a voice, an art, a skill, and an avenue of expression, change is inevitable.
Currently, the show can be viewed on Facebook and on the website. Future installments will also air on YouTube, local and City of Newark television channels.
Support for this episode is derived from Express Newark, Rutgers University-Newark and the City of Newark.
