Girls; Live, Love, Laugh Inc., a Newark-based non-profit organization has over the past ten years established the mission to permit young girls in the city of Newark a chance to live, love and laugh through workshops on leadership & career development, education, communication, health & wellness, bully prevention, time management & civic engagement. As part of their work to increase the visibility of the work that the organization is doing, they are hosting the #GirlsMatterWalk beginning at Lincoln Park on Sunday, September 15 at 9:00 am.
Girls; Live, Love, Laugh stated, “The Girls Matter walk started 3 years ago to help unify the city of Newark and show our girls that we love and support them.” Although this is a FREE event, participants are encouraged to bring either new socks, winter gloves, hats and/or personal hygiene items to the registration table. Items will be donated to homeless shelters throughout the city of Newark.
Allison James-Frison founded Girls; Live, Love, Laugh in 2009. She grew up in the Stella Wright Housing Projects of Newark, NJ and was educated in the Newark Public School system and graduated from Central High School.
This is also the 10th anniversary of the founding of Girls; Live, Love, Laugh Inc. and will include a celebration with a festival following the walk.
