In honor of Newark’s 350th Anniversary Celebration, Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District’s program Music Speaks re-launched this past Tuesday as the official kick-off event of the 2016 Lincoln Park Music Festival. 

 

Music Speaks is a free lecture, music and multimedia arts series designed to increase Newark citizens’ appreciation for the African American musical genres of gospel, hip-hop, rhythm and blues, rock and roll and house.  In addition, programs include visual, performance, literature, photography, mixed media arts as well as outdoor installations and one-on-one “A Conversation With” style talk backs.

Additionally, programs include:

•Visual arts / Photography or Film
•Dance / House Music
•Hip Hip Music / Culture
•Outdoor installations / Abandoned Lot Art Program
•Literature / Author Reading

 

Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District (LPCCD) will develop this traveling program during the City of Newark’s “Newark 350th Celebration” in 2016 through partnerships and collaborations with neighborhood institutions.

April 9th (Literature)
May 21st (Public Art & Sustainability)
July 27th (A Conversation With…)
Photography Workshops on July 9th, 16th and 23rd
August 19th (Outdoor House Music)
…and a final photography exhibition in October 2016.
