Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Principal and CEO of IMPACT Strategies Angela Rye, along with special host Color of Change President Rashad Robinson, will lead a live virtual town hall with mayors of communities of color to address the unique issues they face and discuss the ways mayors across the country are combating the ineffectual leadership and inaction from the federal government, on Thursday, July 23, at 11 a.m. on Facebook.

Mayors joining Mayor Baraka will be Jackson, Mississippi, Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba; Stockton, California, Mayor Michael D. Tubbs; Compton, California, Mayor Aja Brown.

Color of Change is the nation’s largest online racial justice organization, helping people respond effectively to injustice in the world around us. As a national online force driven by 1.7 million members, the organization moves decision-makers in corporations and government to create a more human and less hostile world for Black people in America.

This emergency national conversation will examine what is happening in communities of color, what this moment means for these communities, and what should be done to simultaneously tackle three of our nation’s greatest trials:

 1.  Our ability to plan, prepare and implement strategies to tackle Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).
 2.  Systemic racism that pervades every aspect of our society.
 3.  The 2020 Presidential election that will be the true test for our cities in this moment.
