Mayor Ras J. Baraka released a video statement in response to the multi-million campaign Uber has launched against the regulation of its operation in Newark. The City has taken efforts to engage Uber and require the company to adhere to existing laws pertaining to taxi services operating in Newark. Many Newark residents have voiced their displeasure on social media with the Baraka administration, largely due to the overwhelmingly higher standard of customer service, accountability, and reasonable rates Uber offers compared to taxi services that operate in the city.
