New Jersey’s 21 African-American mayors will officially launch The Black Mayors Alliance for Social Justice at a fundraiser in Trenton. Speakers at the event will include Rev. Dr. Regena Thomas, Congresswoman Bonnie Watson-Coleman, Senator Ronald Rice and Mayors from throughout New Jersey. In uniting the political influence, organizing strength, fundraising capacity, and large grassroots voter base of the mayors, the Alliance instantly becomes a major force in state and national politics.
The Alliance has been formed to empower the ignored and disenfranchised residents of this state and to address their local and state-wide concerns, committed to utilizing resources to guarantee that the overlooked and marginalized residents of New Jersey have an equal opportunity to achieve the American Dream.
The New Jersey Black Mayors Alliance launch event will be hosted at the Wyndham Garden Hotel tonight at 6pm.
The policy focus of the New Jersey Black Mayors Alliance targets Crime and Public Safety, Health Equity, Equal Access to Quality Education, Leadership Development, as well as Job Creation and Economic Growth.
These issues have faced Black and Brown residents in New Jersey for centuries. The efforts to address these issues will include programs at the State and Federal level as well as the election of candidates at the State and Federal who support this agenda.
