The deadline to apply is March 29th at 11:59 pm, with winners to be announced in June 2024.

ArtStart has been sparking creativity in Newark since 2001. The program offers mini-grants to local artists, educators, non-profits, and community organizations. Its goal is to promote diverse cultural activities, especially those involving youth and community engagement.

Newark Arts’ mission is to activate the arts throughout the city. ArtStart helps by funding unique programs in often underserved areas. These initiatives boost both cultural and economic development at the community level.

A committee with wide-ranging community ties will review all submissions. Over the years, Newark Arts has awarded more than 200 grants. This totals over $500,000, with individual grants ranging from $500 to $3,000.
