Urban Girl Magazine organized their first annual Newark Creatives Toy & Coat Drive this holiday season. This is a city wide event where creatives from all around Newark were encouraged to participate by giving back and encouraging others to do so as well. Inspired with the spirit of giving back to the community the owner of Urban Girl Magazine, Desiree Hadley tapped into her local resources, she believed… “Including local businesses would help to create a spirit of inclusion while also bringing them new customers. And I wanted to include other creatives’ i.e. bloggers, media outlets and etc. to help millennials connect themselves to the cause…” Read more about what inspired Desiree at thecletter.com. You can also listen to the exclusive interview with Desiree as she detailed the logistics of the Toy / Coat drive on 3 P’s in a Pod podcast Seasons of Love episode.
Creative partners included: Them Cloud Kids, Vibes in the City, Evan the Show, 3 P’s in a Pod, Push 28 TV, The C letter, Bella Nail Lounge and Beauty Bar, Off the Hanger & Ane Fashion Décor, Link NJ, Chris Miss,Mommymay and Hair so Fab.
From December 4th toy & coat collection has been taking place at multiple small business locations round the city of Newark. Anyone who was interested in donating is encouraged to drop off a toy for a child between the ages of newborn and 17 years old or a gently worn coat. All donations will be taken to the St. Rocco’s women and children’s shelter located at 368 South 7th street in Newark, NJ.
Join Urban Girl Magazine and friends tonight at 8pm as Newark’s own Chris Miss who was featured in Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It Netflix remake, and Newark’s own Evan the Show who was a host on MTV’s Gross Busters as they host the toy & coat drive portion of Vibes in the City at La Rouge located at 972 Broad Street in Newark. We will combine all donations and have a final count of what has been donated throughout the month of December. We will also have fun for the audience as there will be raffle prizes and giveaways.
