As the COVID-19 pandemic first made its way to Newark, and quickly brought all things non-essential to a screeching halt, it became evident that we needed to up our ante as a news media platform. And by way of the support of the Newark “Our City. Our Time. Our Now.” Community ReInvestment Fund and the CZI-NABJ Black Press Grant, The Newark Times developed and published the first two episodes of a series that will focus attention on Newarkers in our diversity, tenacity, and every day greatness.
Newark: Every Day Greatness is a video series that highlights the work and life experiences of Newark residents, community leaders, artists, executives, and small business owners.
Episode One features artist, arts educator and new mother, Kween Moore. Having a breadth of life experiences, education experiences, and creative experiences, Moore spoke candidly of how her life we interrupted by the pandemic, while she was an expecting mother, and how the childbirth and raising her new baby were impacted.
In Episode Two, we sat down with rapper and fashion designer BumpPro, whose eclectic style has created space to release albums, score movies, and engineer for other artists, and to enter into bespoke fashion design.
