On Monday, April 18th at 6pm in the Chase Room of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Timothy Crist, president of the Newark History Society, will discuss what happened after the original group of Puritans settled in Newark from Connecticut in 1666. The talk will explore their approach to governing their town, establishing property ownership, and worshiping God.

The Newark History Society hosts regular talks and discussions from a wide range of perspectives and cultures as it relates to the history of the City of Newark.  Previous discussions have included Newark during the Great Depression, the migration of African-American women to Newark from the South, and the role Newark played in the country’s history during the Civil War.

Monday’s event is co-sponsored by Newark Celebration 350 and the NJPAC Women’s Association.
