Newark Public Schools (NPS) has officially opened recruitment for principal, teaching, administrative, and support staff positions for the upcoming New Media High School. Scheduled to welcome its first class in September 2026, the school is designed with a cutting-edge mission: preparing students for high-demand careers in content creation, video media production, and entertainment management.
Located at 151 Dayton Street in the South Ward, New Media High School will be the 12th school to open under the leadership of Superintendent Roger León since 2018. The district is calling on forward-thinking educators and industry professionals to join this historic launch.
“New Media High School is an opportunity for teachers, school leaders, and creative professionals to help build something truly groundbreaking,” said Superintendent León. “If you are passionate about innovation… and committed to preparing students for careers in content creation, video media production, or entertainment management, we want you.”
Bridging Education and the Entertainment Industry
Consistent with the district’s high school redesign strategy, the school will emphasize real-world industry experience. Through partnerships with higher education institutions and entertainment leaders, students will have access to:
- Apprenticeships and Internships with top media firms.
- Hands-on Production Training in professional-grade facilities.
- Employment Pathways directly into the digital media and entertainment sectors.
Board of Education President Hasani K. Council echoed the call for talent, stating, “New Media High School needs skilled, forward-thinking staff who are excited to teach, mentor, and help students turn their creativity into careers.”
