According to an AARP survey, baby boomers expect to travel, taking four to five leisure trips a year and spend more than $6,600 total on these vacations. Some cities in the U.S. make for a better home base for jet-setting retirees than others.

To determine the best cities for retirees who want to travel, SmartAsset analyzed 54 of the largest cities in the country according to ten metrics related to travel accessibility and financial security for retirees.
