Beginning next Thursday, July 9th, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center will be hosting another Sounds of the City weekly outdoor concert summer series. Kicking off this year’s Sounds of the City will be the Rhythm Revue Dance Party with Felix Hernandez. The live classic soul, funk, and disco radio show is in its 29th year airing on the radio. Rhythm Revue has been recognized as the “Best Radio Show in New York” by New York Magazine and The Village Voice.
The following week, none other than Grammy winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic will hit the stage to perform their hits including “Flashlight” and “Atomic Dog”. This particular performance will be in partnership with Newark Pride.
Other acts on the Sounds of the City calendar this summer include Eric Roberson, The Family Stone, and Slick Rick (with special guests Kurtis Blow, Rob Base and more).
Sounds of the City is sponsored by Horizon Foundation and runs from July 9th – August 27th, 5-9pm. Hosted by DJ Wallah of Hot 97.
