Rutgers Day Festival is right around the corner. This year’s event at Rutgers University–Newark will occur Saturday, April 27, rain or shine. The festivities allow New Jerseyans of all ages to learn firsthand about the university’s research, teaching, and service.

As in prior years, the university’s annual show-and-tell extravaganza will be held simultaneously on all three Rutgers University campuses.
On Norman Samuels Plaza in Newark, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m will be a fun-filled day that is open to all, featuring a variety of hands-on demonstrations, interactive activities like martial arts demonstrations and NJ Devils Slap Shot Hockey, student performances with a special appearance by the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, also including cultural dances, live bands and the Grammy Museum Experience(TM) Rising Stars.
International Jazz Day from 12 – 5 p.m. at Express Newark (54 Halsey Street, Newark) is the newest addition to the Rutgers Day Festival experience. The day’s agenda, produced by the Institute of Jazz Studies features special guest jazz violinist Regina Carter. NJPAC Jazz for Teens, Arts High School, Young Traditions, and Jazz House Kids Dynasty Band will celebrate the music of Count Basie during that time.
Newark Culture Con is back as part of the Rutgers Day Festival lineup by popular demand from 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. at Express Newark (54 Halsey Street, Newark). Rutgers-Newark is proud to host the second annual Culture Con, a unique celebration that cuts across all comic book genres and focuses on diversity, inclusion, and representation. Culture Con has free games, cosplay, 3D printmaking, and lots more. Check out vendors displaying their artwork, live performances, and special panels discussing the trending issues of inclusion and representation in the comic book industry. Celebrity guests include JW Cortes of Fox’s hit show Gotham and members of the band B.E.R., featured in the Cartoon Network show Teen Titans Go!
