The United States Postal Service will release a Sarah Vaughan Commemorative Forever Stamp during a First-Day-of Issue Stamp Ceremony honoring Newark’s jazz and pop singer. Sarah Vaughan has described as having “one of the most wondrous voices of the 20th century.” The iconic singer has also been honored in Newark with the naming of a street as well as the naming of the premier theater of Newark Symphony Hall.
The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 29, 11am at Newark Symphony Hall. The program includes the stamp dedication by USPS Deputy Postmaster General, Ronald Stroman and remarks by Grammy-awarding singer Dianne Reeves and other performers to be announced.
