The Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) has announced a strategic organizational realignment aimed at strengthening its mission and deepening community engagement. This update features the renaming of the Girl Experience team to the Mission Alignment Department and the launch of a new External Affairs Department.
These changes come on the heels of the successful opening of the Girl Scout Leadership Center (GSLC) in Newark, which is now fully operational as a hub for youth development and partnership-driven programming.
“As our work continues to grow, we are focused on ensuring our staffing structure supports how we serve youth, families, and communities today and into the future,” said Natasha Hemmings-Durant, CEO of GSHNJ. “Our commitment to delivering high-quality programs and services remains steady and uninterrupted.”
New Leadership in External Affairs
Leading the newly formed External Affairs Department is Tenisha Malcolm-Wint, who has been promoted to Vice President of External Affairs. In this role, she will draw on her experience launching the Newark GSLC to strengthen strategic partnerships and increase visibility for the organization.
In addition to her duties at GSHNJ, Malcolm-Wint will serve as a statewide coordinator for external relations across all four Girl Scout councils in New Jersey. Her responsibilities include:
- Advocacy: Managing relationships with key stakeholders and advocating for youth development policies.
- Statewide Coordination: Supporting public-sector priorities that impact Girl Scouts throughout New Jersey.
- Mobile Outreach: Oversights of the Girl Scouts on the Go! Mobile Classroom, Powered by Kean University.
Data-Driven Community Engagement
The new department will continue to leverage the New Jersey Girl Report, a data-driven initiative shared by all four NJ councils. This report serves as a vital tool for informing donors, community leaders, and partners about the specific challenges and opportunities facing today’s youth.
