Western Union (NYSE: WU), a leader in cross-border, cross-currency money movement and payments, announced that transfer fees will be waived1 globally for digital money transfers to Brazil through the end of June. This initiative is intended to provide relief for Brazilians struggling from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Consumers around the globe sending money transfers to Brazil from westernunion.com or the Western Union mobile app for bank account payout can access the fee-free1 digital offer through June 30. Western Union’s digital money transfer services are available in more than 75 countries.
Western Union’s global response to the COVID-19 pandemic is ongoing and has focused on prioritizing the health and safety of customers, Agents and employees while continuing to keep money flowing when and where it is needed most.

Western Union has seen an uptick in digital remittances as the COVID-19 pandemic has restricted movement in nearly every part of the world since January. Last month, the company offered discounted fees to essential workers and first responders. The company also announced a variety of service enhancements to support customers and keep remittances flowing as restrictions increased, including concierge services to facilitate digital transactions, and home-delivery of remittance funds in some markets.
Western Union and the Western Union Foundation, along with partners, have pledged more than USD $1 million in the fight against COVID-19. The Foundation is prioritizing initiatives that include strengthening healthcare systems around the globe and serving vulnerable populations, including refugees and migrants. Additionally, the Foundation will continue to support local and global nonprofit organizations providing access to essential services, including hunger relief, medical training, education, supplies and equipment for frontline healthcare workers.
