The United Community Corporation became the designated community action agency (CAA) for the City of Newark in 1964. UCC provides a host of services that serve low-income residents of Newark, which include: emergency shelter, assistance with food and clothing; case management; senior activities and nutrition; employment assistance and training; out-of-school programs for youth; transportation assistance and affordable housing.

The Westside Center of Hope features a College Lingual program for high school students, specifically first-generation Americans, by educating and assisting them and their families through their college experience. This Center of Hope is also located in a Model Neighborhood. It is also highlighted by a fashion entrepreneur camp which offers a hands-on program for teens who wish to enhance their knowledge of the fashion industry.
