On Saturday January 16, the Diversity Youth Theater will present two performances of The Movement: an a cappella Musical in remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr at The Newark Public Library.  The piece, by Kathy D. Harrison, was inspired by the Children’s Crusade, a 1963 protest in Birmingham, Alabama, in which children risked their lives to demonstrate against segregation.

Founded in 2006 by Kathy D. Harrison, Diversity Youth Theater has been a creative home for young performers from New Jersey and New York. The youth theater works with young artists who have an interest in acting, movement, music, songwriting, playwriting and directing.
