The GRAMMY Museum Experience Prudential Center along with proud founding partner, Prudential Financial, will unveil the first mural of their five-part music themed mural series within the city of Newark. Both organizations share a mutually strong commitment to the local communities they serve, and believe this collaboration will add another colorful thread to progress underway in Newark, and will help shine a spotlight on the city’s rich musical roots.
Teaming up with Yendor Arts, a Newark based art organization, The Experience and Prudential Financial selected Camille Coté, also known as FABS, to curate the first mural which is located in the city’s West Ward Fairmount neighborhood. Wyclef Jean, Newark New Jersey native and artist, will be in attendance during the unveiling.
“After close collaboration with community partners like Yendor Arts, Urban League of Essex County, Newark Arts and Prudential Center, we are excited to launch this mural series with our first installment in the West Ward,” said Shané Harris, vice president, corporate giving, Prudential Financial, Inc. “The mural series reflects Prudential’s longstanding commitment to creating new cultural spaces which celebrate Newark’s vibrant arts community and its rich musical and artistic history.”
Camille Cote, also known as FABS, was born in Englewood, NJ. After FABS graduated Dreyfoos School of the Arts In 2004 she moved to Miami where she painted her first mural and realized that her passion was painting on walls; motivating her to travel and continue painting. FABS’s work touches matters in a metaphysical level, using human expression to show the power of feelings and emotions and how they can reach out to people’s subconscious; waking them up to a new reality.
Installment of the mural began in mid-July, with an official public unveil date set for October 15. The unveiling will feature Newark native and GRAMMY-award winning artist Wyclef Jean, as well as speakers from the city, Prudential Financial, and Prudential Center
