Urby has recently launched a partnership that introduces Kinjo, a Japanese-style Izakaya, to Downtown Newark, nestled within Newark Urby, offering a fusion of culture and culinary delight.

David Barry, the CEO and Founder of Urby, chose Kinjo for its community-focused philosophy, saying, “Kinjo’s inauguration at Newark Urby adds a new zest to the locale, drawing inspiration from Newark’s energetic and diverse atmosphere. Our aim is to cultivate a convivial environment and extend hospitality through unmatched dining and public spaces.”

Kinjo – Newark’s Latest Culinary Jewel

Kinjo means ‘neighborhood’ in Japanese and represents Owner and Chef Jamie Knott’s latest culinary enterprise. Knott, known for his successful eateries in Jersey City and the Saddle River Inn, has teamed up with Robert Palmer to create his fifth gastronomic venture.

Jamie Knott comments, “Newark’s reputation as a cultural and culinary center makes it the perfect place for Kinjo. We’re excited to weave this new establishment into Newark’s rich tapestry of eateries. Kinjo isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a community hub where both locals and Urby residents can savor modern Japanese dishes in a friendly, accessible space.”

The menu at Kinjo offers a fresh take on Japanese dishes, with options ranging from dumplings to sushi rolls. The venue features 120 seats, a well-stocked bar, and a creative cocktail menu, hosting guests from Monday to Thursday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and extends its hours on Friday and Saturday for dinner service. .

The interior design combines Japanese aesthetics with modern touches, creating a vibrant setting from morning to evening. Five distinct dining areas, each with its unique design elements like the coral pink alligator wallpaper or the hand-painted mural, all contribute to a vivid and unique atmosphere.
