Yesterday, city officials announced that the City of Newark will hold a series of public meetings in all five wards to enable residents to learn about the services the department offers and give their input on these subjects. The meetings are free and open to the public.
The meetings will cover such subjects as
· Refuse and recycling collection
· Tree services
· Street sweeping
· Night collection
· Illegal dumping
· Snow operations
· City-owned property
“We are urging residents to come to these meetings in their wards, to gain a greater understanding of how and why we do our jobs to serve you,” Director Thomas said. “We are also attentive to our residents, and want to hear what affects them and how we can serve them better.”
The meetings will be held on five separate days, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., according to the following schedule:
· South Ward: George Washington Carver School, 333 Clinton Place, Monday, March 2.
· West Ward: Speedway Elementary School,701 South Orange Avenue, Wednesday, March 4.
· North Ward: Elliott Street School, 721 Summer Avenue, Tuesday, March 10.
· East Ward: East Side High School, 238 Van Buren Street, Wednesday, March 11.
· Central Ward: Camden Street Elementary School, 281 Camden Street, Tuesday, March 17.
