To celebrate the 85th Annual Newark St. Patrick’s Day Parade, the St. Patrick’s Day Committee, Inc., served breakfast to Newark residents in need at St. John’s Soup Kitchen and presented a check for $500 to assist the organization in continuing to help those in need. The newest tradition of the parade is intended become a symbol of community and good will and serve as one of the many activities taking place during parade week.

2020 will mark the 85th anniversary of the Newark St. Patrick’s Day Parade, New Jersey’s first and finest Irish heritage celebration. A longstanding tradition amongst the epicenter of Irish-American life, this year’s parade will feature Michael D. Byrne, a lifelong Montclair resident who previously served as General Chairman of the parade for nine years as Grand Marshal, and Eileen McGinley Hannaford, a resident of Basking Ridge, as Deputy Grand Marshal. Additionally, the parade will be dedicated to the late Francis J. “Frank” Coyne, a longtime resident of West Caldwell.

The parade will be held on Friday, March 13, with ceremonies beginning at 12:00PM followed by the official parade kick-off promptly at 1:00PM. Over the years, the Newark St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee has been proud to consistently call Newark home for over eight decades, keeping the tradition alive. The hope is for Irish-Americans statewide to come out and support the parade and to continue to do so for years to come.
