La Casa de Don Pedro in Newark, NJ, has just announced a significant financial boost from the MetLife Foundation. The organization is a proud recipient of a $250,000 grant from the Foundation’s ACE Innovation Fund. This initiative focuses on bridging the wealth gap in historically underserved communities.

With this grant, La Casa aims to supercharge its Healthy Homes and Community Empowerment programs. These programs are vital in increasing home equity and building generational wealth in Newark and its surrounding areas. As a grantee, La Casa joins a national network of organizations committed to economic equality.

Peter T. Rosario, President & CEO of La Casa de Don Pedro, expressed his gratitude: “Thanks to MetLife Foundation, we can tackle wealth disparities head-on. Our strategy involves guiding families through buying a home, aiding in home retention, and boosting property values through improvements.”

The grant is part of MetLife Foundation’s two-year, $10 million effort to level the economic playing field. The ACE Innovation Fund is set to transform access to capital and address systemic wealth inequalities. La Casa’s involvement in this initiative marks a significant step forward for Newark’s economic development and social equity.

As a recipient of the ACE Innovation Fund grant, La Casa will take part in a cohort to measure impact and report on the outcomes of their interventions, with the opportunity to receive up to $150,000 in follow-on funding.
