Since opening in early 2019, Soul Sweet Boutique has gained a devoted following and expanded to The Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth. This fall, their fanbase will grow from coast to coast with the launch of an e-commerce website.
Soul Sweet Boutique is a little slice of heaven for folks craving classics like hand-rolled brigadeiros (Brazil’s signature confection) and truffles, chocolate-dipped honey cake (pao de mel) and fresh baked cheese breads (pao de queijo). The talented and artistic pastry team can create ANY sweet treat, reimagining it with typical Brazilian flavors. Gourmet cakes in a jar come in churros, coconut and brigadeiro varieties. An impossibly smooth cheesecake gets topped with passionfruit. The crust of the lemon meringue pie includes crumbled Maria biscuits, a staple in Latin homes.
“When I was looking to start a new business, I returned to the kitchens of my childhood for inspiration,” says entrepreneur Thatiana Rangel, founder and co-owner of Soul Sweet Boutique. “My latest venture resulted from my love of sugar, littleextravagances and making people feel special.”
After a successful first year, Thatiana is excited to introduce Soul Sweet Boutique to a broader audience through nationwide shipping. Not even a pandemic can slow her down. As Thatiana says, “What makes us unique? I think it’s our Brazilian heritage and love of hospitality. It’s the subtle flavor combinations of pistachio, guava, dulce de leche, coconut and condensed milk. And don’t forget, extraordinary milk, white and dark Belgian chocolate!”
Soul Sweet Boutique is launching an e-commerce website with a spotlight on gourmet cakes in a jar. Each adorable mason jar is filled with specialty cakes layered with homemade fudge, fresh fruit jellies and creams. Choose from Chocolate Brigadeiro, Carrot com Chocolate, Strawberry o Creme and more — plus alternating seasonal flavors. Available in custom packs: 2, 4, 8 or 12 jars.
Need a hostess or thank you gift? Create a custom box of brigadeiros and truffles, choosing from a dozen flavors, including traditional chocolate sprinkle, coconut, fig, sweet corn, coconut and churros. Other treats available for nationwide shipping include cookies, cheesecake in a jar, honey cake and merengues.
In honor of her grandmother, who showed her love through cooking, Thatiana Rangel opened Soul Sweet Boutique in 2019. The Brazilian bakery and confectionary located in the heart of the Newark Ironbound specializes in luxurious, classic recipes from Thatiana’s native Brazil.
A stickler for perfection, her team uses only the finest ingredients like fresh fruits, Belgian chocolate (her personal favorite) and other imported specialty items. Word spread quickly among the Brazilian community and beyond, making Soul Sweet Boutique a favorite for catering parties with custom designed statement cakes or trays of brigadeiros and pastries. Savory breakfast and lunch menus were added at the request of devoted patrons.
With an eye on expansion, Soul Sweet Boutique soon added a kiosk at The Mills at Jersey Gardens in Elizabeth. This September, Soul Sweet Boutique will reveal a new website and launch nationwide shipping of their signature gourmet cakes in a jar, brigadeiros, truffles, cookies, cheesecakes, and other specialties.
