The Newark: Our City. Our Time. Our Now. campaign, anchored by The Chad School Foundation, and powered by TandemEd—a media and community development company, is accepting applications for the Newark: Our City. Our Time. Our Now. Community Investment Fund. Applications opened Monday, March 15th at 8:00 a.m. and are due by 11:59 p.m. on March 22, 2021 and can be submitted online at https://thechadschoolfoundation.org/.

For the competitive awards process, the Newark: Our City. Our Time. Our Now. Selection Committee will award funds with preference to applications focusing on one of its three campaign pillars. These pillars are centered around: promoting a sense of community and protection; equipping community members with knowledge of Newark’s rich history; and supporting residents in improving their health and wellness, especially mental health. The community investment fund will support youth, individuals, families, and groups with a passion project, initiative or program that can show maximum positive impact on Newark’s Black Community.

The maximum award available through the The Newark: Our City. Our Time. Our Now. Community Investment Fund competitive process is $5,000. A total of $100,000 is available to support 20 awardees.

After a period focused on collecting stories, young people from the community, Own Your Story Ambassadors, took the compiled information and designed a story-based, media campaign that reflects what it means, and will mean, for Black residents to be seen, heard, and respected. “Newark: Our City. Our Time. Our Now.” is the campaign theme the young people decided on.
