Today, Catherine Wilson, President & CEO of United Way of Greater Newark (UWGN), and Tiffany “The Budgetnista” Aliche, financial educator, bestselling author, and co-Founder of Live Richer Academy and Brown Ambition Podcast, announced they will host a livestreamed event to discuss the importance of educating young children about financial literacy and wellness. The event will be livestreamed directly to YouTube on October 13, 2020 from 6-7pm ET.
“The United Way of Greater Newark and Catherine Wilson played a pivotal role in my financial journey by giving me the opportunity to teach hundreds of Greater Newark, New Jersey residents use their money to live richer lives,” said Aliche. “To come back years later to teach some of the same people how to show their children and family how to understand money is truly a full-circle moment.”
The event will offer information and resources to help attendees address financial literacy with young children, teenagers, and themselves, while providing answers to commonly asked questions, including when and how to introduce financial literacy to children. Tiffany will also share an excerpt from her children’s book, Happy Birthday Mali More.
The conversation will cover how to:
· Teach kids about money at any age
· Teach personal finance at home when you don’t feel like you know enough
· Raise a saver and a giver
“Financial literacy is essential to achieving financial stability and success, and it’s never too early to start teaching and learning these skills,” said Wilson. “At a time when many low- and middle-income families across the country are facing increased financial uncertainty due to the pandemic, my conversation with Tiffany will provide those families with the necessary tools to manage and understand their finances. This builds on the United Way of Greater Newark’s work with our community to foster healthy financial decisions.”
