Last night, NJTV, New Jersey’s public television network hosted its second major benefit event at NJPAC.  Joe Piscopo served as Master of Ceremonies, and guests enjoyed a beautiful reception and dinner followed by awards honoring veteran journalists, Michael Aron (NJTV News Chief Political Correspondent and host of On the Record and Reporters Roundtable) and Kent Manahan (former NJN News anchor and host of Governors’ Perspectives), for their contributions to public television.  There was also a wonderful performance by another of New Jersey’s own, John Pizzarelli, the world-renowned jazz musician and vocalist.

Neal Shapiro, President and CEO of WNET and NJTV addressed the benefit guests, noting that “NJTV has never been better.  With your support, we’ve been able to broadcast more than 30 hours a week of local programs, each week – all in high-definition.  In fact, all together we received 11 New York Emmy Award nominations – the most of any of our stations this year, including Thirteen and WLIW.”

Steve Adubato spoke on the magnitude of NJTV’s offering amid nay-sayers, and the determination and ambition of the partners and supporters who have worked together for the past four years.
