High Street Views: A Conversation about St. Benedict’s Prep

Founded on High Street, now Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd., in 1868, St. Benedict’s has been educating young men in Newark and its surrounding towns for over 150 years. For the last 40 years the school has been dedicated to serving minority youngsters, and those from low-income backgrounds. St. Benedict’s welcomes students from all racial, religious, and socioeconomic groups to create real diversity. Join in an inter-generational conversation with the school’s long-time headmaster, Reverend Edwin D. Leahy, O.S.B., historian Tom McCabe, Devionne Mclean-Johnson, a 2018 graduate and current Rutgers-Newark student, and Chrisley Alexis, a current student leader.
Doors open at 5:30pm with a reception and live jazz by the The Gray Bee Jazz Ensemble.
