After-School All-Stars hosted their Hoop-a-Thon fundraiser on Saturday, May 18, at Linden High School with a Free Throw competition as well as food, contests, and performances by All-Star students.

ASAS provides free, comprehensive after-school programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and life to over 1,000 students. Hosted by Newark’s Dupre “DoItAll” Kelly, co-founder at 211 Community Impact and entertainer at Lords of the Underground, the Hoop-a-Thon raised $36,723.

“The Hoop-a-thon was a fun day for participants to connect with our All-Stars and see first-hand the impact our programs have on children in the community,” said Nicole Harris, Executive Director of ASAS NJ.

ASAS Board member, Tim Hepplewhite, Head of Strategy & Transformation, Mondelēz International NA, noted the relationship with local corporations and ASAS NJ. “Mondelēz International is thrilled to support this incredible After-School All-Stars event. As one of our longstanding community partners, we passionately believe in the great work they do to help kids succeed in school, and in life. Twelve teams of Mondelēz employees were happy to compete for all-important office bragging rights, having collectively raised over $20,000 for the Hoop-a-Thon.”

Activities throughout the day included giveaways, celebrity appearances, a silent auction and a half-time show with performances by Newark’s own Leah Jenea, and ASAS students.
