Seven football teams from in and around Newark are competing for a National Championship during the 63rd annual Pop Warner Super Bowl beginning this past weekend at Disney World! To earn a National Championship title, a team will need to win three games during the Championship Tournament, which runs from Dec. 7-14.

Three of the seven Newark-area Pop Warner teams were knocked out of Championship contention on Saturday. 
The Division II Junior Pee Wee Brick City Lions (ages 8-10) lost to the Westside Wildcats from Florida 19-0. They will play a consolation game on Dec. 10. The Division II Junior Varsity Watchung Hills Wolverines (ages 10-12) lost to the Capital City Steelers from NC 31-0. They will play a consolation game on Dec. 10. The Division II Junior Varsity East Orange Jaguars (ages 10-12) lost to the Deer Valley Americas form AZ 12-18. They will play a consolation game on Dec. 10. 

The DI JV Brick City Lions (ages 10-12) beat the Ocoee Bulldogs from Florida 6-0. They will play the North Philly Aztecs from PA on Dec. 11 at 10:30am ET.

The DI Pee Wee Brick City Lions (ages 9-11) beat the Avalon Wolves from Florida 32-8. They will play the Blackhawks Athletics Club from PA on Dec. 11 at 1:30pm ET. The U14 Brick City Lions (ages 13-14) beat the Central High Point Trojans from NC 13-6. They will play the Next Level Athletics from IL on Dec. 11 at 1:30pm ET. 

Unfortunately, the U10 Woodbridge North Broncos (ages 9-10) were knocked out of National Championship contention with a 33-0 loss to the Lawrence Hurricanes from Mass. 

The Pop Warner Super Bowl is made up of 71 teams that compete in either Division I or Division II across three different age/weight ranges (Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee & Jr. Varsity) or in one of three Age-Only Divisions (U10, U12 & U14). To advance to the Pop Warner Super Bowl, a team must win both of its League and Regional Championships. Each advancing team is guaranteed to play two games at the Super Bowl, with a National Champion being crowned in each division and competition level.
